Brian Berner & Spotify

Brian Berner has had decades-long success as an advertising media and technology executive. Over the last ten years, he has worked at Spotify as the Head of North American Advertising Sales.

Berner oversees all personnel related to the country’s Advertising Partnerships, works directly with management to carry out Spotify’s go-to-marketing strategy, and leads the development of ad product and sales strategies. With Brian Berner’s oversight, Spotify’s Advertising Partners acquire the products that will be marketed to consumers in an authentic and impactful way.

Brain Berner started working for Spotify as their Regional Vice President for the Midwest in 2011. His breadth of experience and his advertising acumen was vital to their expansion into the Midwest and throughout the United States. It was this oversight that elevated Berner into the role he has today.

Before Spotify, Berner spent time working for an email marketing firm and, later, a marketing solutions firm, but landing a job at Spotify was a dream of his. At the time, combining social sharing with music streaming was a newer innovation, so there were a lot of learning curves as companies attempted to refine their services. For Brian Berner, Spotify was the first company to really get it right. They seamlessly aligned tech, social connections, content discovery, with a world-class user interface. Out of all the music services, Spotify was ahead of the game and already planning for the future, and he wanted to be a part of it.

Berner’s proudest achievement to-date has been taking Spotify’s salesforce from private to public. This was a massive undertaking that required the implementation of new business rules, accounting practices, and customer communications. He also helped grow Spotify’s NA sales team from 40 employees to over 170 employees.

Brain Berner is excited to help Spotify break into the podcast space and continue expanding their operations overseas. This will open up new opportunities and attract new customers that will continue to grow their services and user base.
